Lab Manager in the Computer Programming Department's computer labs,
December 1985 to April 1987. Duties included supervising a minimum
of three lab assistants. Responsible for keeping all lab equipment
and software in working order, scheduling lab assistants, working
out lab reservations for classes, coordinating with instructors in
all activities involving the labs, coordinating with system managers
and operators in our use of the various systems, helping in the
preparation of syllabi for the department. Was involved in a
project to migrate student CICS and IDMS applications from Clemson
University's IBM 3081K system to the NAS 7000 system owned by the
TEC Educational Data Center in Columbia.
Prior to December 1985, worked as a lab assistant in the same
department. Involves helping students use the equipment and
software, maintaining security of equipment and software,
detecting/correcting/reporting problems with hardware and software.
Some operator-type duties.
In these positions, I worked with a Burroughs B1920 minicomputer
system, a Digital VAX 11/780 system, Digital Rainbow microcomputers,
IBM PC and XT microcomputers, and Apple IIe microcomputers. In
connection with this position, I programmed in several dialects of
BASIC, and in VAX/VMS DCL.
RELEVANT ACTIVITIES
Since 1979, I have continuously owned at least one
microcomputer system. My current system, which I built, is an Athlon
XP 2000+ based PC, which I use for accessing the Internet, for word
processing, for software development, and for games and recreation.
Systems I have owned include IBM PC compatible systems, TRS-80 systems,
and Atari 400 / 130-XE systems. I have built and maintained all of my
PC systems. I taught myself to program in several dialects of BASIC,
Z-80 assembly language, and 80x86 assembly language.
